Rapid City

We had such a great summer vacation to Rapid City, SD to visit Josh's family. We spent nearly a full week roaming around the Black Hills and introducing Reagan to all of her family. We also had the great fortune of meeting her birth father's family, who made the trip from Eastern SD to meet us. I'm so happy that we have an open adoption and that everyone that loves Reagan will be able to know the sweet girl that she is and that she will have knowledge about her birth parents and her roots. I think that will be so important to her when she gets a bit older.

All in all we had an amazing trip. Even the 12 hour drives to and from weren't too bad. It helps when you have an angel baby riding in the back seat that's just content all the live-long day. We love her so much and are so happy we get to haul her along on all of our adventures!

Reagan's really perfected the art of rolling and now gets herself into some precarious situations. I left the room for a minute and found her like this. She was able to wiggle herself out, however, and continued on her journey.

We tried to get Reagan and her cousin, Alex, to play together or hug each other but they were a little leery of one another, if not mildly interested in seeing another baby.

This is the view from the top of Harney Peak, which was about a 7 mile, round-trip hike. We got a lot of "Good for you!" comments from people that couldn't believe we brought our baby, but Reagan handled it like a champ!

Harney Peak proved to be too much for Reagan so she just relaxed most of the way while Josh did all the work.

Reagan's birth father's family (her birth dad, Grant, is the one holding her). It was amazing to meet all of them!

We all rode up the tram with the intent that most of us would ride the alpine slide down and a couple would take the babies back down the tram, but due to a power outage Reagan got her first ride down an alpine slide. She loved it!

"Raggedy Ann & Andy", better known as Reagan and her cousin, Alex. This is at Storybook Island in Rapid.
