The Big Easy......

I (Josh) just returned from a 5 day human resources conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, and of course the first thing that comes to the mind of most people is: the French Quarters, Bourbon Street, Mardi Gras, crazy wild times, etc, etc. Let me tell you that there is nothing more PG than 12,000 human resources practitioners roaming the streets of the Big Easy. Which actually made it quite nice for me.

The highlight of this trip, like most every trip for me, was the food. So let me indulge you a little.

This place called Mother's was about 50 feet from the hotel, and I am glad it was. They specialize in their ham Po-Boy sandwiches. Crusty French bread with home smoked ham, thin roast beef, lettuce, tomato, pickle, mayo, cajun mustard, and a unbelievable beef gravy, so very good. Also enjoyed the bread pudding with a caramel syrup, the red beans and rice, Jerry's jambalaya, and finally the sweet potato pie. And no I did not eat this all at once, it was spread out over a couple of days.

My next very favorite was Cafe Du Monde, which makes Beignets. They call it a French doughnut, I call it the most delicious thing the the scones and funnel cakes category. It really is basically fried dough with a very generous helping of confectioners sugar piled on top. They are heavenly, especially with a tall cold 2%.
